FRP Study Support Drop-in Sessions

Need a hand with your Final Research Project?  Learning Services are here to help you.  Attend one of our drop-in sessions.  Each session lasts about 45-60 minutes (Advanced Word approx 30 mins).  If no students arrive within 10 minutes of the start time, the session will be cancelled.

Final Project Research Skills: Learn how to use the LRC’s collection of online databases to find useful journal articles.

Bibliographies & Referencing: Learn how to reference and set out your bibliography using the Harvard style.

Advanced Word: Learn how Word 2007 can automatically create contents pages, and get help with headers, footers, page numbering, and Word’s in-built referencing system.

International Bibliography of Theatre & Dance - New from the LRC

The International Bibliography of Theatre and Dance is newly available from the LRC. This research database contains more than 120 full text journals and 120 full text books. Perfect if you’re working on an essay or your FRP.

Film & Sound Online - New from the LRC

Film & Sound Online is an online collection of film, video and sound material. Several hundred hours of high-quality material are available for download, either in full or as segments, and can be used freely in learning, teaching and research.
It can be accessed via Athens here using your usual LIPA username and password. Further information and advice on using the LRC’s range of electronic resources can be found in the Electronic Resources section of LIPA Moodle

Two of the collections may be particularly useful to LIPA students:

Performance Shakespeare
A collection of 11 productions and documentaries from Channel 4 Learning. Includes modern versions of Macbeth and Twelfth Night as well as a range of documentaries which investigate the process of producing the plays in the theatre, for television or in the community. We are aiming to make the Performance Shakespeare collection available throught the LRC’s IPAC.

Culverhouse Classical  Music Collection
Over 50 hours of copyright-free classical music and associated scores, covering much of the core repertoire plus rarer pieces from the 17th to the 20th centuries. Adaptation and manipulation permitted.
